Words from the Race Director – Brandy Maulden

As a triathlete and race director, it is my goal to provide fellow triathletes the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful venue and have an amazing race experience. There is nothing like waking up early to go put all you have on the line. Once you cross that finish line and feel that sense of accomplishment, it makes all the challenges worth it. I hope that triathletes that race Cultivation Nation can see how much my team and I put into providing an amazing race for everyone – from the beginner to the most experienced – we want every person to come out and see this beautiful place and get a feel for this small town that has big southern charm.

History

Before 2015, Flint Creek Reservoir in Wiggins, Mississippi was home to the PX3- Paddle, Pedal & Pant race.  Athletes paddled in kayaks for 1.5 miles, then biked 16 miles, and ran 2 miles to finish.

2015 – Present:

The race converted to a short distance triathlon known as Cultivation Nation Sprint Tri. Cultivation Nation Triathlon still takes place in beautiful Flint Creek Reservoir. This USAT sanctioned sprint distance triathlon features a flat swim, hilly bike course, and off-road run.

The Course

The 600-yard point to point swim is flat and fast and takes place in the picturesque Flint Creek Reservoir. The 16-mile bike ride is an out and back that takes the rider through the farmlands of Stone County, and the 5-kilometer run is a down and back off-road run. The packed red dirt has some rolling hills and the runners never complain about the canopy of trees that provide some much-wanted shade.

Awards

The after party will feature complimentary food and beverages for athletes. Athletes and their families are encouraged to hang out in the beachy swim area or enjoy the Flint Creek Water Slides. After the race, athletes can slow down and enjoy shopping at various small-town shops around town.
